The Town of Sylvan Lake is launching its annual paid parking program on May 1, 2026, two weeks earlier than in previous years. This program shift is part of the 2026 operating budget approved by the Sylvan Lake Town Council to help manage town costs by generating revenue from visitors.
The paid parking season will now run from May 1 through October 31, 2026. Drivers in town should note that a new paid parking area, known as Zone 3000, has been added to the parking map.
While visitors are required to pay for parking, residents can park for free if they register their vehicles through HotSpot Parking. Residents are eligible to register up to four vehicles. Because enforcement is based on licence plate numbers, officials are reminding locals to ensure their vehicles and plates are correctly added to their accounts before the May 1 deadline to avoid potential penalties.
During the spring and summer season, parking rates vary by location. The lakefront lots in Zone 2000 are $50 per day, while Zone 2500 street parking costs $5 per hour with a two-hour maximum. The new Zone 3000 area, located at the 50 Avenue Lot, is $10 per hour with a maximum daily cost of $50.
The parking program, which began in 2017, is managed through a partnership with HotSpot. In addition to the spring/summer rates, year-round pay parking is now in effect from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM daily. For any questions regarding enforcement, residents and visitors can contact Municipal Enforcement at 403-858-7280 or 403-858-7290.
