Residents of Mississippi Mills can look forward to mild and sunny weather over the upcoming long weekend, even as local officials maintain a flood warning for the surrounding watershed.
According to Environment Canada, clear skies are expected to arrive on Friday, April 24, following a chilly night with temperatures dipping to minus 2 degrees Celsius. The pleasant weather will continue through Monday, with daytime highs ranging between 13 and 15 degrees Celsius. This dry window is expected to last until Tuesday, when conditions become unsettled with a 60 percent chance of showers.
While the forecast offers relief for outdoor plans, the Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority continues to manage an active flood warning for the Mississippi River watershed. The warning was issued on April 22, 2026, after water levels at Dalhousie Lake climbed past the 1:10 year flood threshold.
Authorities note that the forecasted dry weather, with less than 20 millimetres of rain expected throughout the week, is helping to stabilize the situation. Water levels at several upper lakes, including Shabomeka, Mazinaw, Little Marble, Marble, Kashwakamak, Big Gull, and Mississagagon, have peaked and are expected to begin receding gradually. The current flood warning remains in effect until April 28, 2026.
