The Town of Milton has officially begun its 2026 construction season, launching a $57.8 million investment into the community’s roads, bridges, and stormwater systems. Residents should prepare for various road closures and lane restrictions as crews work to maintain infrastructure throughout the summer and into the fall.
Major construction projects currently underway or starting this month include improvements on Nipissing Road and Childs Drive, where work to widen the roads is ongoing with completion expected in 2027. Work on Ontario Street is also in progress between Main Street East and Laurier Avenue, with completion expected by June 30, 2026. While officials note there will be no full road closures for this project, drivers should expect localized lane restrictions and some night work at intersections.
Additional projects launching in May include the reconstruction of Appleby Line from Derry Road to the hairpin turn. In June, the town will begin work on Morobel Drive, which includes upgrades to drainage and road infrastructure. Furthermore, the town is moving forward with its annual Asphalt Overlay program, which will see maintenance work completed on 27 roads throughout Milton by this autumn.
Residents in affected areas will receive advance notice before work begins near their properties. These infrastructure improvements are part of a broader capital plan designed to support a population that is projected to continue growing significantly in the coming decades.
