Residents of Mississippi Mills should prepare for a wet and windy day on May 5, 2026, as a slow-moving cold front brings a high chance of rain and a risk of thunderstorms to the community.
According to The Weather Network, which provides data based on forecasts from Environment Canada, there is a 90 per cent chance of precipitation today. Between 2 and 4 mm of rain is expected throughout the day, accompanied by southwest winds gusting up to 33 km/h.
The Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority continues to monitor local water levels, as a flood watch for the Mississippi River watershed remains in effect until May 5. While water levels in the region remain elevated and upper lakes like Mazinaw, Little Marble, Marble, Dalhousie, and Mississagagon are still in seasonal flood conditions, levels have begun to stabilize. Notably, water levels at Dalhousie Lake have receded below the 1:10 year flood threshold.
Following today’s unsettled weather, conditions are expected to improve later this week. The forecast indicates that skies will clear by Thursday, May 7, with mainly sunny conditions and a daytime high of 11°C before the possibility of scattered showers returns later in the weekend.
