The Regina Lyric Musical Theatre is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a special fundraising raffle featuring a travel prize. Residents in Regina have the chance to win a roundtrip flight for two guests to any regularly scheduled WestJet destination, with tickets currently available through the theatre organization’s website.
The raffle serves as a highlight of the nonprofit group’s milestone anniversary season. Originally incorporated as the Regina Lyric Light Opera Society on November 6, 1977, the organization was founded by a group of about 30 people, with the late Patricia Knox serving as its first president and primary organizer.
In addition to the raffle, the group is preparing for a production of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. Directed by Rob Ursan, the show is set to take place at Darke Hall from June 3 to June 6, 2026. Evening performances are set for 7:30 p.m. from June 3 to June 5, followed by a 1:30 p.m. matinee on June 6.
Darke Hall, a 470-seat venue located at 2255 College Avenue on the University of Regina campus, recently underwent a six-year, $15 million restoration. The building, which originally opened in 1929, reopened to the community in April 2022 and has since received a national heritage award for the preservation work completed under the guidance of P3A Architecture and Ledcor Construction.
The theatre group remains active in the community throughout the year, including a recent fundraiser held on February 28, 2026, which supported Mobile Crisis.
