The Town of Sylvan Lake is inviting local residents and business owners to share their feedback on the upcoming final stage of the downtown revitalization initiative. A public open house will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2026, from 4:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Party Chef, located at 4904 50 Ave.
The event focuses on Phase 2 of the Centennial Street Redevelopment Project, which aims to improve the stretch of road between 50 Avenue and Lakeshore Drive. This final phase follows a two-year construction break, which the town implemented to allow downtown businesses time to recover from previous work before moving forward.
Planned upgrades for the area include replacing the current sidewalks, curb and gutter, and road surface. The project also features wider walkways, new streetlighting with wayfinding signage, enhanced landscaping, and the installation of soil cells to support healthy tree growth. These improvements are designed to create a modern and accessible downtown core that supports both residents and visitors throughout the entire year.
The project has been in development since 2014 and supports goals outlined in the town’s REIMAGINE SYLVAN, Sustainable Waterfront Area Redevelopment Plan (SWARP). Construction for this final phase is estimated to begin in March 2027.
For more information, residents can reach out to the project managers, including Engineering Services Manager Eric Boudreau or Economic Development Officer Amanda Mercer.
