The Evergreen School Division is looking for a new owner for a property in the small community of Fraserwood, Manitoba, with the hope that the site will be used to provide much-needed local services.
Trustees approved the sale of the former school site on April 28, 2026. The division is specifically prioritizing proposals from organizations or groups that intend to offer community or emergency services at the location. Interested parties must contact the school division board office by 3:00 p.m. on Friday, May 15, 2026, to receive additional information regarding the property and sale requirements.
Located in the Interlake region, Fraserwood is home to fewer than 100 residents. While the community currently has access to a grocery store, a gas station, a post office, and a community hall, residents have limited local options for other essential needs. The prospect of new emergency or community services could provide a significant benefit to the area.
According to the Manitoba Historical Society, the property historically served as a school from 1913 until the 1980s. Following its closure, ownership was transferred to a local sports club before eventually reverting to the school division.
Parties interested in the property can contact the Evergreen School Division board office, located at 140 Centre Street in Gimli, by calling 204-642-6260.
