The Bay Roberts Public Library is inviting community members to stop by for an afternoon tea event this Saturday, May 23, 2026. The gathering will take place from 1 to 4 pm at the library, located at 76 Cross Road.
This event serves as the latest addition to the library’s local programming, which has traditionally focused on children’s storytime, Lego play sessions, and a grandparent and grandchild group. By offering this time for residents to gather informally, the library continues its efforts to provide a free public space for the community.
The library, which is part of the Newfoundland and Labrador Public Libraries system, has seen significant growth in recent years. In 2024, library circulation increased by 64 percent over the prior year, and staff and management note that residents are increasingly looking for accessible, no-cost gathering spots.
This commitment to community engagement was recognized in 2024 when local library staff members Laura Saunders and Marilyn Clarke received the inaugural Small but Mighty Award. The award was created by the judges of the TD Summer Reading Club Library Award program to honour the library’s exceptional work in running reading programs with limited resources.
