Alberta’s 40th Seniors’ Week will run June 1 to June 7, 2026, and Sylvan Lake, Alberta, is joining the province in a week of free events aimed at older adults and their families, according to the Alberta government and the Town of Sylvan Lake.

The town has posted three signature events that residents can attend at no cost. On June 2 the town is offering the Let It Be Beatles Jubilations Dinner, a Zoomers social trip to Edmonton to attend the Let It Be Beatles Jubilations dinner theatre at Jubilations. On June 3 the Walk the Talk inter-generational lakeshore walk will pair a local classroom with older adults to share stories and life experience. On June 4 the Sylvan Lake Lodge will host a Strawberry Tea at 2:00 PM.

The NexSource Centre is also taking part with a Seniors Week Passport program. Participating seniors can try fitness classes and drop-in activities during the week and will be entered into a draw to win one of two six-month senior memberships to the facility.

Local community groups will run additional activities. The Sylvan Lake Seniors Association operates from the NexSource Centre as a separate organisation and offers a $25 annual membership for residents who want to take part in its programs. The provincial Seniors’ Week launch on June 1 will be co-hosted by the City of Grande Prairie as communities across Alberta mark four decades of recognizing seniors’ contributions to leadership, volunteerism, experience, and community life.
