Kings Playhouse in Georgetown, Prince Edward Island, has announced its 2026 summer lineup, featuring new live music shows and the return of popular festivals. The historic venue, now under direct operation by the Town of Three Rivers, will host events from May through August for local residents and visitors.
The newly added Fiddlin’ Fridays series presents two Celtic music nights. The Irish Scots, with Norman Stewart, Maxine MacLennan, and Courtney Hogan-Chandler, perform July 10. The Lovely Nelly Band, featuring Mark Douglas, Colin Jeffrey, and Claudie Mackula, takes the stage July 24. Both shows start at 7:30 p.m. and tickets are $25.
The PEI Mutual Festival of Small Halls closes its 2026 season at Kings Playhouse on June 21 with “A Closing Fit for Kings.” The matinee show features Juno-nominated Newfoundland folk group Rum Ragged and PEI blues artist Joce Reyome. The festival runs June 12 to 21 at over 40 community halls across the Island.
The Cloggeroo Island Folk Festival returns August 14 to 16, with Kings Playhouse hosting the Ultimate Blues Reunion on August 14. Garrett Mason, Keith Hallett, Rhéo Rochon Jr., and Chuck Bucket will perform. Also on the summer schedule, the Country Legends Tribute Show returns tonight, May 27, with Gordon Cormier and Dave Pike playing songs by Charley Pride, George Jones, Conway Twitty, Merle Haggard, and Johnny Cash.
The Town of Three Rivers recently took over operations of Kings Playhouse in May 2026, creating new staff positions to support the theatre and reduce volunteer burnout. Jonathon Gardner serves as Three Rivers Arts & Culture Supervisor. Kings Playhouse, Canada’s longest-running theatre dating back to 1897, features a 290-seat theatre, community event space, and art gallery at 65 Grafton Street.
