Bonnyville, Alberta is in for a warm and sunny weekend after a cool and breezy start on Friday. Environment Canada forecasts temperatures climbing to 25°C by Sunday, offering residents a break from the unsettled conditions early in the day.
Friday began with cloudy skies and a 30 per cent chance of showers in the morning. At the Dupre weather station, the temperature sat at 9.4°C as of 8:00 AM MDT, with humidity at 79 per cent. North winds gusting up to 40 km/h were expected to ease as the day went on, with a high of 16°C under a mix of sun and cloud.
The weekend outlook improves quickly. Saturday will be sunny and 22°C, while Sunday and Monday both reach 25°C. Those temperatures are one to four degrees above the normal June high of 21°C.
With no rain in the forecast for the weekend, conditions look ideal for gardening, outdoor projects, or simply enjoying the long daylight. Sunrise Friday came at 4:49 AM and sunset will be at 9:57 PM, giving the community close to 17 hours of daylight.
The dry spell won’t last into next week. A 60 per cent chance of showers returns Tuesday June 16 and continues Wednesday. Residents may want to finish any outdoor work before then.
