The Brockville and Area Sports Hall of Fame celebrated its 32nd anniversary by inducting five new members and handing out top honours at a pair of events in Brockville, Ontario on June 11 and 12, 2026. The annual Kinsmen Awards Banquet and formal induction ceremony moved to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 96 hall this year while the usual venue, the Brockville Memorial Centre, undergoes a major roof replacement.
Victoria Ford, a Grade 12 student from Thousand Islands Secondary School, was named the 2026 Sports Person of the Year. Ford earned the honour just days after winning gold at the OFSAA Track and Field Championship in St. Catharines. She also plays basketball and is expected to suit up for the University of Toronto next season.
The Johnstown Jewels, an under-15 girls softball team, took home the 2026 Sports Team of the Year award after capturing the Ontario championship. A new award was also introduced this year. The Geraghty family – Adrian, Pat, and sons Sean, Shane, Shannon, and Shemus – received the inaugural Longtime Coaching Contribution Award for their years of coaching and volunteering with Brockville minor soccer.
Five individuals joined the Hall of Fame on June 12. Bob Olson, who coached 1,320 high school basketball games at Thousand Islands Secondary School, is believed to have the most coaching appearances in Leeds and Grenville history. Golfer Teri deLuis was a 14-time club champion at the Brockville Country Club, a four-time player of the year in Quebec, and won provincial senior titles in both Ontario and Quebec.
Husband and wife Steve and Ann-Marie Polite of Roebuck were honoured for their broad support of sports in Brockville, Prescott, and the surrounding areas. Jeff Seed, a multi-all-star fastball player, earned a gold medal with Team Canada at the 2003 Pan American Games. Minor pro hockey player Scot Birnie helped Dartmouth capture the Canadian Senior ‘AA’ championship in 1987. The Hall of Fame now includes 170 inductees displayed at the Memorial Centre.
