There are currently no weather alerts in effect for the Mount Pearl area. The sunny skies come with a reminder that the UV index is forecast to reach 6 both Tuesday and Wednesday, which is considered high. Environment Canada recommends using SPF 30 or higher sunscreen and wearing protective clothing when spending time outdoors.
The warm start to the week is actually a few degrees above the historical normal high of 19 degrees for late June. Mount Pearl typically enjoys about 1,524 hours of sunshine each year, with the summer months being the sunniest. The city tends to be 2 to 3 degrees warmer than nearby St. John’s thanks to its inland location.
By Thursday, however, the picture changes. Clouds are expected to move in, bringing a downturn in temperatures. Highs will drop back to the low teens, with 14 degrees forecast for Saturday and a chance of showers on Sunday and a high of just 13 degrees.
