Young soccer players in Bay Roberts will get more time on the field this summer. The Conception Bay North Lightning Soccer Club released its Summer 2026 schedule on June 26, adding one extra session per week for all Timbits programs.
This means children ages 3 to 8 in the introductory soccer program will have more chances to practise and play. The club serves 11 communities across Conception Bay North, with its office based in Bay Roberts.
The Timbits program, sponsored nationally by Tim Hortons, is often a child’s first organized sport experience. The extra sessions are a response to growing demand. In recent years, the club had to cap registrations at the under-4, under-6, and under-8 levels because so many families wanted to sign up.
The club has a long history in the area. It started in North River in 2006 and now offers soccer for ages 3 to 17. Run as a not-for-profit, the Lightning club operates with the motto “Fitness, Friendship and Fun.” In August 2024, it celebrated a big achievement when both the under-15 boys and under-17 girls teams won provincial A championships in the same weekend.
