Wednesday is forecast to be a mix of sun and clouds, while Thursday morning brings a chance of showers before mainly sunny skies take over in the afternoon. Environment Canada has a strong wind warning in effect for the Strait of Georgia south of Nanaimo, with northwest winds of 20 to 25 knots easing through the day, so boaters and kayakers should take note.
Friday marks a shift, with mainly sunny skies but cooler afternoon temperatures of 22°C feeling like 25°C. Clouds increase overnight, leading into a rainy Saturday. Showers are expected in the morning with a 40 per cent chance of rain, then light rain in the afternoon at a 70 per cent probability and about 1mm of precipitation. Sunday brings a mix of sun and clouds, a high of 21°C, and a 30 per cent chance of showers.
This mid-week warmth is right in line with Salt Spring Island’s typical July highs of 25 to 27°C, based on historical climate data. After last year’s dry conditions, the weekend rain will be a welcome change for gardens and forests.
