The Town of Bay Roberts has released the schedule for Klondyke Days 2026, with events running through August 3. This year marks the 31st edition of the annual festival, a celebration rooted in the community’s history and connection to the Klondyke Causeway.
The festival’s name comes from the causeway built by residents in the 1890s to connect Bay Roberts and Coley’s Point. According to local lore, a shopkeeper compared the construction, which brought an economic lifeline during a difficult time, to the Klondike Gold Rush, with the spelling changed to “Klondyke.” The celebration began in 1996 and has grown into a nearly two-week event organized by the town council with help from community groups and volunteers.
This year’s lineup includes a parade with floats, music, and dancers, followed by a community barbecue. Other events include community breakfasts, afternoon teas, garden parties, walking tours, geocaching, shopping days, a car show, jam sessions, and a family fun day. The festival wraps up on Bay Roberts Day with a fireworks display over the Klondyke.
