A-Spire Players is bringing a fast-paced, family-friendly Greek mythology comedy to Gimli’s historic theatre, with tickets now on sale for the August 14-16 run of “The Greek Mythology Olympiaganza.”
Tickets are $25 and available by phone at 1-204-642-8079, by email transfer to [email protected], or in person at H.P. Tergesen’s & Sons General Store in Gimli.
The show, written by award-winning playwright Don Zolidis, uses audience participation, cross-dressing, and what producers call “general theatrical insanity” to cover the entirety of Greek mythology in one evening. It is directed by Sky Militere and stage managed by Ryan Janz.
The production runs at the A-Spire Theatre, located at 76 2nd Avenue in Gimli, a heritage church building that now serves as the company’s home. The company was founded by Brian Richardson in 1992, and for over three decades, A-Spire Players has brought live theatre to Gimli and the surrounding Interlake region.
The community theatre group has received support from the RM of Gimli and the Westshore Community Foundation, a local philanthropic organization that has granted over $1,180,000 since 1998 to support initiatives across the area.
Cast members include Mavis Viola Davies, Philip Paley, Rox Picton, Hunter Shupenia, Ava Valentim, Nikita Maud, Parker McElroy, Elyse Alphonso-Thorassie, Arshdeep Sidhu, Phil Picton, and Mia Hoilett.
