The Rimbey Community Library is hosting its first annual Book It Fun Run on August 23, 2026, at PasKaPoo Park in Rimbey, Alberta. The event offers a 5K run or 1K walk, with registration based on pledges and proceeds supporting library programs and operations.
Gates open at 3:00 PM, with a warmup at 3:45 PM and the run starting at 4:00 PM. A free barbeque supper follows at 5:00 PM, courtesy of the Rimbey Lions Club. Cone Zone Creamery will provide free ice cream for all participants.
Adults must raise a minimum of $50 in pledges to register, while children need $30. Those who raise over $100 receive a branded water bottle, and anyone who reaches $150 gets that plus a Book It Fun Run T-shirt. “It’s community-minded,” said Lions Club president Roy Keessar. “Everything we make in profits goes back into the community.”
The Lions Club, celebrating its 80th anniversary this year, has a long history of donating to the library and other local projects. The fun run is the library’s first major fundraiser of this kind, supporting a public library that is part of the Parkland Regional Library System, Alberta’s first regional library system.
