The Town of Sylvan Lake is hiring a full-time Economic Development Coordinator to support the town’s growing business community and economic development strategy. The position pays $38.87 to $46.42 per hour for a 35-hour work week, and applications close on August 23, 2026.
The new role will work alongside Economic Development Officer Amanda Mercer, providing front-line support to local businesses, coordinating economic development initiatives, and helping with data, reporting, and funding activities. According to the job posting, the coordinator will also contribute to collaboration and promotion efforts that enhance economic growth and community vitality.
Mayor Megan Hanson announced in May 2026 that plans were underway to expand the Economic Development department. This new position is part of that expansion and comes as Sylvan Lake continues to grow. The town had 1,049 active business licenses in 2025, with 336 new licenses issued that year, and its population reached an estimated 17,897 residents by the end of 2025.

This is one of several economic development initiatives in Sylvan Lake. In April 2026, the town received $23,800 from the provincial Northern and Regional Economic Development program to support a retail and commercial gap analysis, and it has also received a $90,000 grant for a labour force attraction marketing campaign.
