The Sylvan Lake Municipal Library is giving families free ways to stay busy as summer wraps up, with a mix of tech workshops, story times, and reading clubs through late August.
The library at 4715 50 Ave is running its “Out of This World” Summer Reading Club for kids ages 6 to 12. Sessions for ages 6 to 8 happen Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., and there are games, crafts, and space-themed activities. No registration is needed, and all programs are free.
On August 19 from 6 to 7 p.m., adults and teens can join the Tech Workshop: Break the Fake. The session teaches people how to spot misinformation and deepfakes, including AI-made images and videos, and how to use AI to check what is real.
French-speaking families have options too. L’heure du conte, a French story time, runs August 22 from 10:15 to 11 a.m. There is also a French program for kids ages 9 and older.
