Bay Roberts families have until August 21 to lock in early bird pricing for the 2026-2027 minor hockey season at the Bay Arena. The Bay Arena Minor Hockey Association is handling registration for house league players in the U7 through U18 divisions, with fees ranging from $285 to $760 depending on age division.
The new season is set to tentatively start on September 8, 2026. After the August 21 deadline, registration closes and will not reopen until September 10, with all packages increasing by $50. Families can save money by registering early, and several discounts are available: second child gets 25 percent off, third child 50 percent, goalies 50 percent, first-year players 50 percent, and female players in house league 25 percent.
This year brings a new mandatory safety step. At least one parent per registrant must complete The Shift Forward: Evolving Hockey Culture online course before their child can be registered. The course is part of a Hockey Canada initiative to improve hockey culture and safety, and it is required for the 2026-2027 season. The Hockey Newfoundland and Labrador website has details on the program.
Early bird fees include a $90 Hockey Newfoundland and Labrador insurance fee. For U7 and U9 players, the total is $760; U11 is $570; U13 is $380; and U15 and U18 are $285 each. The Bay Arena Minor Hockey Association encourages families who need financial help to reach out to programs like Kidsport Newfoundland and Labrador, Jumpstart, or the Hockey Canada Assist Fund.
