Bay Roberts, Newfoundland and Labrador is in for a warm and humid stretch of weather this week, with daytime highs well above seasonal norms and no marine warnings in effect, according to Environment Canada.
Daytime highs will reach 25 to 26°C early in the week before easing to the low 20s by the weekend, with Humidex values climbing as high as 35. That is significantly warmer than the typical August high of around 20°C for the area.
Marine conditions remain calm for the East Coast region south of Cape St. Francis, which includes Trinity Bay and Conception Bay. As of Monday, no watches, warnings, or advisories are in effect.
However, residents should prepare for some unsettled weather mid-week. Showers with a risk of thunderstorms are in the forecast for Monday evening, with rain moving in by Tuesday evening and fog patches developing overnight. The Weather Network is calling for a 60 percent chance of thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon, with temperatures feeling like 34°C.
Conditions are expected to improve by Thursday and Friday, returning to a mix of sun and cloud. Winds will be southerly at 15 knots tonight, veering to southwest 15 to 20 knots Tuesday afternoon before backing to south 25 knots Tuesday evening, with seas one metre or less building to one to two metres.
With warm and humid conditions in the forecast, it should be a comfortable week for outdoor activities, though residents should keep an eye on the sky for passing showers and possible thunderstorms.
