Didsbury Municipal Library has swapped summer youth programs for a new fall lineup packed with free activities for residents of all ages. Starting in early September, the library will host Crafternoon, Munchkin Mania, Pen To Paper, Day Off Discoveries, and a financial literacy session called Money Matters: Making Cents of it All.
The Didsbury Municipal Library, located at 2033 19 Avenue, has served the community since 1908, making it one of the oldest little libraries in Alberta. Library cards are free for Didsbury and Mountain View County residents.
Kids can get crafty each week at Crafternoon, a drop-in program every Wednesday starting September 9 at 3:30 p.m. Each session features a different craft and challenge, and the program runs for 14 weeks through the fall.
Parents with toddlers and young children can connect at Munchkin Mania, a free parented play program every Tuesday starting September 15 at 10 a.m. The program is sponsored by Didsbury Value Drug Mart and offers a casual space to meet other caregivers.
Adults get their own creative evening with Pen To Paper on September 3 at 7 p.m., where attendees can bring unfinished craft projects to work on in a relaxed setting. Later in the month, on September 17 at 6:30 p.m., a financial literacy workshop, Money Matters: Making Cents of it All, will be presented by Patricia McKean, a mortgage broker with Mortgage Architects. The workshop is sponsored by CALP and requires registration, with a maximum of 20 participants.
For school holidays, the library offers Day Off Discoveries sessions. The first takes place September 18 from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., where kids can make leaf clay dishes. Additional sessions are planned for November 27 (STEM building) and December 21 (Holiday craft).
