Young hockey players in Rimbey and surrounding communities can now see their practice schedule for the upcoming season. The Blindman Valley Minor Hockey Association (BVMHA) has posted the 2026-2027 handbook online, which includes prep skate times and pre-season information. The association serves players aged 4 to 17 in the U7 through U18 divisions for residents of Rimbey, Bentley, and Eckville.
The handbook outlines key dates and requirements for families. All registration fees are due by September 15. Payment plans are available by credit card through the RAMP registration website. Goalies in the U11, U13, U15, and U18 divisions can receive a 30 percent rebate on fees. That rebate is paid in February for players who commit to the position for the full season.
Families are also required to complete eight volunteer hours per season. If those hours are not done, a $500 volunteer commitment fee is charged at the end of the season. Teams compete in the Central Alberta Hockey League for co-ed programs. The association also handles registration for West Central Wildcats female hockey teams.
Practices and games will be at the Vern Poffenroth Memorial Arena in Rimbey. The ice surface is maintained from mid-September until the end of March. The arena has a seating capacity of 600.
This season also brings a new team to the community. The Rimbey Royals Junior Hockey Club begins play in the Heritage Junior Hockey League as a new expansion team in the North Division. Their first game in September 2026 is on the road against the Agra Risk Wheatland Kings.
