Residents in the Rural Municipality of Brokenhead have four Saturdays this fall to bring clean yard waste to the municipal burn site on Road 38E between Miles 74N and 75N. The site will be open September 12, September 26, October 10, and October 24 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
A $5.00 cash fee is charged at the gate for all-day use. Only clean burnables are accepted, including grass clippings, leaves, branches, and garden waste. All dates are weather-dependent, so residents should check conditions before heading out.
The burn site offers a local option for households that do not have curbside garbage pickup and must arrange private waste removal. The RM of Brokenhead does not operate its own landfill or transfer station, so residents normally rely on neighbouring facilities such as the RM of St. Clements Landfill and the Oakwood Transfer Station.
Open fires are prohibited across Manitoba from April 1 to November 15 each year, except under a burning permit or in enclosed approved firepits. The municipal burn site operates within those provincial rules on scheduled Saturdays.
