The Leduc Minor Hockey Association has announced its complete coaching and athletic staff for the U15AA Roughnecks team ahead of the 2026-27 season. Andrew Platten has been named head coach, with Stephanie Kegler and Kirk Ruecker joining as assistant coaches, and Shawn Lallier taking on the role of team athletic trainer.
The announcement was made on September 1 by Erik Nosyk, AA Senior Director for the Leduc Minor Hockey Association. Platten brings over 10 years of coaching experience with U18A and U18B hockey in Edmonton, where his teams captured five city titles, two provincial silver medals, two bronze medals, and one provincial championship. He most recently coached the Leduc Junior B Riggers.
Kegler earned an NCAA scholarship after an accomplished playing career and later suited up for the Sherwood Park Steele in the AJFHL, where she earned individual awards. She has spent the past six years coaching at the U13AA through U16AAA levels. Ruecker grew up in Slave Lake and played in the NWJHL with the Slave Lake Wolves and Whitecourt Wolverines, also spending a season with the Slave Lake Thunder U18AA team before moving on to senior men’s hockey.
Lallier, the team’s athletic trainer, holds a Bachelor of Kinesiology, a Master of Science in Sports Medicine, and a Doctorate of Chiropractic. He previously worked as a team trainer with the St Albert Raiders U18AA program.
The U15AA squad is one of four AA teams operated by the association, competing in the Northern Alberta Hockey League under the Alberta Elite Hockey League umbrella. The team plays its home games at the Leduc Recreation Centre and typically plays a 32-game regular season plus regional playoffs. Platten said he is excited to grow the LMHA AA program and help players develop mentally and physically both on and off the ice.
