Residents in Hinton can explore mental wellbeing through a free Holistic Connections workshop on Monday, September 14, 2026, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the FCSS office at 821 Switzer Drive. No prior experience is needed, and participants are welcome to bring a yoga mat, journal, or water bottle.
The workshop will be led by Melissa Faulkner, a Holistic Nurse Coach, Mindful Movement Facilitator, and Clinical Hypnosis Practitioner. It focuses on mindful movement, guided reflection, and experiential practices using a strengths-based approach that encourages self-discovery rather than fixing problems.
The session is part of the Mental Health Matters autumn course series, made possible by a $15,000 grant from the Canadian Mental Health Association and the Centre for Suicide Prevention. Most courses in the series are free, removing cost barriers to mental health skills and education.
This workshop highlights Hinton’s ongoing commitment to accessible community mental wellness. The Rural Mental Health Project, which supports communities like Hinton, has received $1.6 million in provincial funding to strengthen mental health capacity in rural Alberta.
