Mississippi Mills Council has reviewed the subdivision agreement for the next phase of the Weaver’s Way development, adding 73 new housing units on the northeast side of Old Almonte Road and south side of Appleton Side Road. Council reviewed the agreement at its August 25 Committee of the Whole meeting, and it will return to a future Council meeting for formal approval before going to Lanark County for final review and approval.
The agreement covers Phase 1B of the development by Minto Communities Ottawa. Weaver’s Way is planned for about 530 residential units on a 33-hectare parcel at 1218 Old Almonte Road. Construction has already started, with blasting and grading ongoing and expected to last up to five months.
Final approval lies with Lanark County Council, which has the authority to approve plans of subdivision. The project received draft plan approval from the county in June 2024. Mississippi Mills Council approved zoning changes to lift holding zones in August 2024.
The municipality is also investing over $1 million to reconstruct Old Almonte Road, converting it from gravel to asphalt and widening it to support the new homes. That work is underway from southeast of Jack Dalgity Street to Appleton Side Road.
