Eleven students from Regina’s public high schools have earned the Governor General’s Academic Medal, the highest academic honour for Canadian high school students. Regina Public Schools announced the recipients on September 10, 2026, congratulating the students for achieving the top average at their respective schools.
The medal, created in 1873 by Lord Dufferin, Canada’s third Governor General, is awarded at four levels. The Bronze medal goes to the graduating student with the highest average from each secondary school, calculated from all eligible Grade 11 and Grade 12 credits.
Regina Public Schools operates eight high schools serving approximately 27,000 students across the division. The division congratulated all recipients and celebrated their academic excellence as the new school year begins.
The award has a long history in Canada, encouraging academic achievement for over 150 years. The Governor General’s Academic Medal remains a prestigious recognition for graduating students nationwide.
