RCMP in Arviat, Nunavut, are investigating several tire-slashing incidents since mid-April 2026 that damaged twelve vehicles and left one local business with a $20,000 repair bill.
A total of 28 tires were destroyed at Eskimo Point Lumber Services alone, according to police. The Mounties are now asking the public for help tracking down whoever is responsible.

The damage is significant in a community of roughly 2,800 to 3,170 people, where the chance of being a property crime victim is already about one in 13. The incidents come as Nunavut’s Crime Severity Index rose 9.5 percent in 2025, one of only two jurisdictions in Canada to see an increase.
