Barrie’s waterfront will come alive with Latin American music, dance, and food when Carnival Barrie returns to Will Dwyer Park on September 5 and 6, 2026. The free festival runs from 12pm to 10pm both days at 81 Lakeshore Drive.
The two-day event celebrates the traditions of 22 Latin-speaking countries through live performances and authentic cuisine. Tourism Barrie lists the festival among its signature cultural events.
Carnival Barrie began in 2023 as a tribute by founder Adrian Caraballo, a Barrie resident originally from Uruguay, to his parents’ immigrant experience. The festival has grown quickly, reporting an 85 per cent increase in both revenue and attendance in 2024 compared to its first year. Festivals and Events Ontario recognized Carnival Barrie as a ‘Top 100 Event’ in the province.
The Carnival Barrie website describes it as an annual Latin festival celebrating food, music, and dancing while showcasing what makes each country unique. LIUNA 183 is the presenting sponsor for the festival, with initiatives aimed at attracting new residents in the construction and trades sector.
Organizers have sought municipal support to offset costs such as security, staging, lighting, and portable toilets. The City of Barrie provides the waterfront venue and has reviewed funding requests to help sustain the growing event.
