Residents in Bay Roberts should prepare for a messy mix of winter weather as a complex storm system moves through the region starting this evening, April 5, 2026. Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement for the area, warning of hazardous conditions that will last through Monday.
The storm is expected to begin with snow this evening, which will transition into ice pellets and freezing rain overnight. By Monday morning, precipitation is expected to turn to rain as temperatures climb. Total snowfall throughout the system is estimated between 5 and 10 centimetres, with rainfall amounts reaching approximately 5 millimetres.
The weather system will also bring strong winds with gusts up to 80 kilometres per hour. These winds are expected to create blowing snow, which may make travel difficult and hazardous for those heading out on Monday.
Conditions are expected to improve by Tuesday, April 7, when the forecast calls for a mix of sun and cloud with a high of 2 °C. However, the unsettled weather pattern is short-lived; flurries are expected to return on Wednesday, April 8, with a 60 percent chance of precipitation. Looking further ahead, the week is expected to remain unsettled through the following weekend.
