The Bonnyville Municipal Library is rolling out a fresh slate of free programs starting today, July 27, 2026. The lineup offers something for kids, seniors, and everyone in between, with three new activities replacing last week’s schedule.
Kids aged 6 to 12 can tackle the 32-foot indoor climbing wall at the Bonnyville Centennial Centre from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Registration is required for the C2 Climbing Wall Fun session. Later that day, adults and seniors are invited to the Coffee Crafternoon from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the library. The evening wraps up with Adult and Teen Board Games for ages 13 and up, running from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
All library programming remains free, a commitment the library made a few years ago and has maintained with help from local business sponsors. “A couple of years ago, we made a promise to the Town and the board that we would run all of our programming for free for a year or so, and then we just kept going with that,” said Kat Eliason, Library Programs Team Lead. “There’s been some businesses . . . who have really helped support us.”
The library serves Bonnyville, the Municipal District of Bonnyville, and the Summer Village of Pelican Narrows. Beyond these weekly activities, residents can join the Summer Reading Program, where logging reading hours enters participants into prize draws. The library also competes in Friday 15, a regional reading contest among Northern Lights Library System members.
Eliason emphasizes that the library is more than just books. “Our programming aims to get people through the door and remind them that we’re more than just books on the shelf, we’re a community hub, a great place to meet like-minded people, and a place to do fun stuff,” she said.
