First responders and community members jumped into the cold waters of the St. Lawrence River at Centeen Park in Brockville, Ontario, on March 7, 2026. The annual ‘Freezin’ for a Reason’ Polar Plunge brought the community together to raise money for Special Olympics Ontario.
The event included members of the Brockville Police Service and the Brockville Fire Department. They were joined by the Leeds Grenville Paramedic Service and several local athletes who participated in the challenge.
Local radio station representatives also took part in the fundraiser, including Wendy Wright from MyFM 104.9 and Keith Clarke from 103.7 Giant FM. Participants took turns jumping into the river to show their support for athletes who need financial assistance for their sports programs.
This annual event is a staple of the local charitable calendar and focuses on fostering solidarity between emergency services and the public. The money raised helps athletes with the costs of training and competition throughout the year.
