Downtown Brockville will transform into a 1960s celebration on Saturday, July 11, 2026, as the popular Shop the Street series returns with a ‘Summer of Love’ theme. The free outdoor event, organized by the Downtown Brockville BIA, runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. along King Street between Perth and Bethune streets. The road will close to vehicle traffic, allowing locals and visitors to stroll among shops, patios, and themed activities.
Live music presented by Aaron’s Mill, a classic car show, local vendors, and food trucks are all part of the festivities. Attendees can also take part in the Downtown Discovery Passport program, collecting stamps from participating businesses for a chance to win prizes. The BIA expects thousands to attend, building on past years where rain or shine, crowds filled the street.
“Shop the Street is based on previous events which were started in 2020 as a way of providing a safe space to shop and to encourage customers to feel comfortable while getting back out in the downtown,” the BIA stated. The BIA represents more than 250 businesses in the historic core, which stretches from Clarissa Street to Park Street and from James Street down to the St. Lawrence River.
The Summer of Love theme nods to 1967 San Francisco, with peace-and-love vibes and nostalgic touches woven throughout the day. Organizers say the goal is to draw people into the downtown to explore stores and eateries they might not normally visit, while giving families a fun and relaxed outing. The event is designed to be walkable, welcoming, and a boost for small businesses at the height of summer.
