Burlington’s downtown will come alive with music on the morning of Saturday, June 20, 2026, when the Summer Music Parade steps off at 10 a.m., launching a weekend of free community festivities. The parade, organized by the City of Burlington, carries on a decades-long local tradition and kicks off the new Lakeshore Music and Arts Festival at Spencer Smith Park.
Starting near Central Arena at Caroline Street and Drury Lane, the parade heads along Brant Street and finishes at Baldwin Street. The whole procession is expected to last about 30 minutes, and roads will reopen once it is safe. Residents should be aware of brief traffic impacts downtown during that time.
The lineup includes the Burlington Teen Tour Band, Burlington Junior Redcoats, Top Hat Marching Orchestra, Halton Region Police Service Board Pipes and Drum Band, Crash Rhythm, and entries from a range of community organizations. The Teen Tour Band, which started in 1947 and is Canada’s oldest and largest youth marching band, has been a centrepiece of Burlington’s summer parades for generations.
Along the route, volunteers from the Burlington Teen Tour Band Boosters will be collecting non-perishable food and cash donations for the Burlington Food Bank. Residents are encouraged to bring an item along to support the cause while they enjoy the show.
The Summer Music Parade revives a tradition that began with Burlington’s former Sound of Music Festival in 1980. After the festival’s 45-year partnership with the city concluded, the City chose MRG Live Ltd. to produce a new waterfront festival, and this parade was brought back as a free, family-friendly way to keep the community spirit alive.
The Lakeshore Music and Arts Festival runs June 20 and 21 at Spencer Smith Park, with more than 30 Canadian acts including Walk Off the Earth, The Trews, Katie Tupper, and The Dirty Nil. Mayor Marianne Meed Ward and Councillor Lisa Kearns have voiced strong support for the parade, saying it brings neighbours together and highlights local talent while setting the stage for a lively downtown weekend.
