The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has welcomed new members to its ranks, continuing an ongoing effort to maintain public safety in the region. The group was sworn in during a ceremony at the service headquarters in Oakville, marking the beginning of their careers dedicated to serving the more than 624,000 residents across Burlington, Oakville, Milton, and Halton Hills.
This addition to the workforce is part of an ongoing effort to maintain public safety in the region. The Halton Police Services Board approved a budget increase for 2026, which supports the hiring of additional front-line constables and civilian staff. These resources are intended to help the service address regional growth and evolving demands, while upholding the organization’s core values of trust and respect, integrity, accountability, excellence, teamwork, and justice.
Under the leadership of Chief of Police Stephen J. Tanner, who has headed the service since 2012, the organization continues to focus on its role in a region that has consistently maintained one of the lowest crime severity indexes and lowest crime rates among its comparators in Canada. The swearing-in ceremony included participation from the police board, community leaders, and senior command, underscoring the importance of these roles in supporting the community.
The service currently employs hundreds of uniformed officers and civilian staff. For those looking to pursue a career in law enforcement, the organization also operates a long-standing cadet program to support the development of future candidates.
