Two teenagers from Hamilton are in custody following a series of vehicle thefts and credit card fraud that took place across Burlington and Oakville on April 15, 2026. The Halton Regional Police Service arrested the suspects, aged 15 and 13, after executing a search warrant at a residence in Hamilton later that evening.
The investigation began at approximately 6:35 a.m. in Burlington, when a resident on Kempling Lane had their Toyota SUV stolen while delivering a package. Police determined the suspects had arrived at the scene in a stolen Toyota minivan from Hamilton. Shortly after the theft, that van was abandoned on Bunton Crescent following a single-vehicle crash, and the two suspects fled the area in the stolen SUV.
Investigators also linked the two teenagers to a separate incident earlier that same morning in Oakville, where credit cards were stolen from a vehicle and subsequently used at multiple locations. Both youths are facing a variety of charges, including theft of a motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by crime, theft under $5,000, fraud under $5,000, and failure to stop after an accident.
In addition to these charges, the 15-year-old faces two counts of failing to comply with a release order, while the 13-year-old faces one count of failing to comply with an undertaking. Both suspects were held in custody awaiting a bail hearing in Milton.
Residents with information regarding this or other criminal activity are encouraged to contact police or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers of Halton.
