The Rocky View Schools board has approved a new four-year plan that will guide the division’s priorities and decision-making through 2030. Trustees gave the green light to the 2026-2030 Strategic Plan at a public meeting on June 18, following months of input from more than 2,100 students, staff, families and community members.
The plan consolidates the division’s focus around three main goals: Equip Students for Success, Foster Optimal Learning Environments, and Strengthen Relationships and Public Trust. It replaces the previous 2022-2026 plan, which had four priorities: improving students’ learning, strengthening the workforce, bolstering infrastructure, and connecting with the community.
The engagement feedback that shaped the new direction was gathered through the division’s RVSEngage platform, the division stated on its plans and results page.
The updated strategy comes as Rocky View Schools continues to see steady enrolment growth, reaching approximately 29,600 students across more than 52 schools. Much of that growth has been driven by rapid population increases in Chestermere, where several schools have operated at or near capacity in recent years, including Prairie Waters Elementary School, Rainbow Creek Elementary School, East Lake School, and Chestermere High School.
Board Chair Fiona Gilbert, who has served as a trustee for 12 years and represents the Cochrane area, and Superintendent Ryan Reed, who took on the top administrative role in September 2025, will now oversee the plan’s rollout. The division’s administration will use the strategic priorities to shape annual education and operational plans, with progress reported through the yearly education results report.
