The Town of Claresholm is letting residents know that Benchmark Assessment Consultants, the town’s property assessor, is conducting property reviews throughout the community as of August 26.
Assessors will be updating property photos from the sidewalk or roadway. If they have any questions about a property, they may knock on the door or leave a card requesting that you contact them.
All assessors will be driving vehicles displaying the Benchmark Assessment Consultants logo, making them easy to identify.
Under the Municipal Government Act, municipalities must prepare an annual assessment using provincially set standards. Regular property reviews help ensure that the assessment roll reflects accurate property information and that the property tax system remains fair and consistent.
Benchmark Assessment Consultants Inc. is based in Lethbridge and is the largest assessment firm in southern Alberta, currently serving 48 municipalities across the province.
Property owners with questions about their assessment can contact Benchmark Assessment Consultants at 1-800-633-9012. Complaints can be filed with the Assessment Review Board by the deadline shown on tax notices.
