The Rural Municipality of Gimli in Manitoba has published its latest spending records, revealing exactly how much local council members were paid through February 28, 2026. The updated report replaces previous records from earlier in the year and is now available for public review on the municipality website.
According to the Council Expenses report, the four members of council received a combined payroll of $11,756.80 for the month. An additional $320.96 was paid out to cover travel costs and cell phone allowances for the group.
Mayor Kevin Chudd received $2,995.20 in pay and a $50.00 cell phone allowance. Deputy Mayor Kurt Reichert received a total of $3,007.12, which included pay for days worked as well as costs for his phone and vehicle use.
These financial updates come after the mayor served a seven-day suspension without loss of pay in January 2026. That suspension was the result of an independent investigation that began in March 2025 after a formal complaint was filed regarding the conduct of the mayor and other council members.
Chief Administrative Officer DJ Sigmundson confirmed that the municipality is currently performing a full review of its own rules. This review aims to improve how the local government handles complaints and ensure better transparency for residents in the future.
