The Winnipeg Sports Car Club is finishing its winter season with a final racing event on the ice at Lake Winnipeg in Gimli, Manitoba, on March 7 and March 8, 2026. This weekend marks the end of the winter racing circuit and serves as a major attraction for the community during the colder months.
Drivers will take part in various competitions on the frozen water, including the “Fire on Ice” and “Ice Drifting” classes. This Ice Race Event 5 is a long-standing tradition and is organized in partnership with the Gimli Ice Festival.
Anyone wishing to participate in the races must register by March 6, 2026. To celebrate the end of the season, the club is hosting a dinner and an awards ceremony on Saturday evening, March 7, to recognize the top performers of the year.
Festival co-chairs Susan and Peter Holfeuer help coordinate the event, which turns the lakefront into a hub for motor sports fans. The car club has been managing these types of racing events in Manitoba since 1952.
