The Leduc Public Library is hosting a Mario Bros-themed scavenger hunt for local children on Friday, April 24, 2026. The free, drop-in event coincides with a professional development day for the Black Gold School Division, giving students a place to visit while they are home from school.
Families can stop by the library anytime between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. to participate. The activity invites children of all ages to search for characters hidden throughout the building. In addition to the hunt, the library will provide themed colouring activities and a Mario craft for participants to complete.
This event is part of the library’s ongoing commitment to children’s programming, which is a key focus under its current five-year strategic plan that runs through 2029. The library has found success with similar interactive activities, such as a scavenger hunt held in the summer of 2025 that featured characters like Clifford, Garfield, and Winnie-the-Pooh.
The library continues to serve as a major hub for the community. According to a 2025 annual report presented to the City of Leduc council by Library Director Carla Frybort, the facility recorded more than 150,000 visits and over 13,700 participations in children’s programs throughout the year.
