On March 28, 2026, Volunteer Leduc and the Newcomer Volunteer Advisory Committee will host the 3rd Annual Newcomer Volunteer Mixer at the Maclab Centre in Leduc, Alberta. This event aims to connect the city’s growing newcomer population with local community roles, ensuring that future celebrations have enough helpers to run smoothly.
The mixer will run from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and offers a chance for new residents to meet coordinators and learn about the local culture of community service. Organizers note that while this event focuses on networking, formal volunteer positions for Canada Day are expected to be posted online in May 2026.
The push for more volunteers comes as the City of Leduc is expected to reach a population of over 40,000 people this year. This growth increases the demand for staff at major community events like the local pancake breakfast and fireworks display.
