Community Living North Halton is marking Community Living Month in the Milton and Halton Hills area this year with a series of community events taking place over the weekend of May 22 and May 23, 2026. These activities are part of a province-wide awareness campaign led by Community Living Ontario to celebrate inclusion for people with intellectual disabilities.
The weekend kicks off on May 22 with a Voice Committee BBQ and car wash fundraiser held at 12 Todd Road in Georgetown from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Organized in partnership with the newly formed United Way Golden Horseshoe, the event offers a car wash, hot dog, and a pop for $10. On May 23, residents can visit a resource booth at the Milton Farmers Market on Main Street between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. to learn more about local support programs.
Rounding out the month, a flag raising and proclamation ceremony will be held at Milton Town Hall at 150 Mary Street. Following the ceremony, coffee and pastries will be served at The Lunchbox Café & Catering, located at 917 Nipissing Road. The café is a social enterprise run by the organization that provides training and work experience for adults with developmental disabilities.
Community Living North Halton has provided services to children and adults with special needs in the Milton and Halton Hills areas since 1955. This year, the organization continues its long-standing mission to promote community inclusion through these local gatherings.
