Milton residents still have an opportunity to share their thoughts on the town’s long-term growth plan following a public meeting held at Town Hall on April 13, 2026. The session, which focused on the draft We Make Milton project, gathered initial community feedback regarding how the municipality should develop over the next few decades.
The town is currently updating its official plan to guide development through 2051. Officials estimate that the local population will grow from approximately 138,000 residents to 400,000 during this period, which will require the construction of about 88,000 new housing units. This update comes as the community navigates significant housing affordability challenges, including a rental vacancy rate below 3 per cent and average home prices hovering around $1 million.
While town council did not make any final decisions during the meeting, officials are continuing to collect comments from the public. Residents can provide their input through the online Feedback Forum or by emailing the project team at [email protected]. The planning process remains a central focus for the community as it manages rapid expansion and ongoing infrastructure debates, including local concerns regarding air quality and traffic related to the CN Logistics Hub. Future transit improvements, such as the push for expanded, two-way, all-day GO train service, also remain key considerations for the town’s future development.
