The Optimist Club of Milton has moved its annual Great Canadian Moose Race fundraiser from May 23 to October 17, 2026. This signature event will now take place at St. David’s Presbyterian Church in Campbellville.
The event is a major fundraiser for the local service group, which has been supporting youth programs in the Milton area for over 40 years. Guests can attend the evening, which features a dinner and a unique tournament where wooden moose figures are raced using dice. The festivities begin at 5:00 p.m. with an opportunity to view the wooden figures during the opening of the paddock, followed by a silent auction before the races begin after dinner.
Tickets for the event are priced at $50 per person, and attendance is limited to 80 guests. All proceeds from the evening are directed back into the community to support local initiatives. Beneficiaries include the Optimist Dream Kitchen, food delivery programs for residents in need, the Milton District Hospital Auxiliary, and the Townsend Smith Foundation.
The Optimist Club of Milton has been a fixture in the region since it was chartered on January 11, 1967. Over the course of its history, the volunteer organization, which is part of Optimist International, has donated more than $1 million to support various community projects and youth programs.
