Teachers at Milton District High School in Milton, Ontario, are taking over the morning routine this month with a new project called Millennial March. Starting March 2, 2026, staff members are running the daily announcements and playing music from their own generation to build a better connection with students.
During the takeover, teachers like Kilgour are sharing their favourite songs and explaining older slang terms to the student body. One example includes the word humblebrag, which the school describes as a term used to share an achievement in a way that sounds self-deprecating.
This music project is happening while the school prepares to host the National Theatre School Drama Festival for the first time. From March 4 to March 6, 2026, students from 10 different public, Catholic, and private schools will visit for the competition, which is expected to increase traffic and community activity around the building.
Teacher McCallum is coordinating the theatre event, which the Halton District School Board school says is a great chance for the community to see high-level youth acting. Along with the drama festival, the school is currently hosting tryouts for boys baseball and girls soccer teams.
These activities aim to create a lighthearted atmosphere during a busy month that also includes early planning for the 2026 prom. The school is currently serving as a central hub for the local neighbourhood with multiple events happening at once.
