The week will see consistent chances for rain, with a 60 percent probability of showers forecast for Monday, May 4. While Tuesday, May 5, is expected to be the warmest day at 17°C, residents should prepare for chilly starts. Wind chill values are expected to reach as low as -6°C during the morning hours through Saturday, May 2.
As the community navigates this weather, the Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority continues to manage a flood watch for the Mississippi River watershed. While water levels in upper lakes and major tributaries have peaked and are expected to begin receding, the authority warns that flooding remains a possibility. Residents should remain cautious near fast-moving water, unstable riverbanks, and low-lying roads.
To assist with flood preparation, the Municipality of Mississippi Mills is making sandbags available to residents. These can be picked up at the Roads and Public Works Garage located at 3131 Old Perth Road.
