The firefighters use the vehicles to practice extrication, which is the process of cutting into a car to safely remove people trapped after a crash. By using donated cars, the department can provide realistic hands-on experience for its members while keeping training costs low for the community.
The department relies on approximately 50 volunteer firefighters to serve the Almonte and Pakenham areas. These drills ensure the crew remains ready to use modern rescue tools and methods when responding to local emergencies.
